Appointment with the trees

Here are a few more photos of the woods surrounding my in-laws cabin in Grayling. Sometimes it is so quiet that you can hear a chickadee break the silence from over a mile away it seems.

'I frequently tramped eight or ten miles through the deepest snow to keep an appointment with a beech-tree, or a yellow birch, or an old acquaintance among the pines.'
~Henry David Thoreau

Shelley, Isn't it interesting to see some trees hanging onto their leaves??? Some down here do the same thing. They seem to wait 'til we rake and blow the leaves out of our yard---and then they begin to fall (so we get to do it again)... ha
Hugs,
Betsy

Very well done! I like the contrast of the snow on the ground with the dead leaves still on the oak trees.

I can really relate to these shots as it looks like the habitat here-except that we also have a lot of fields and meadows.

my gosh, I'm totally changing my thoughts on winter! I live in Wisconsin so we are neighbors. You have captured such breathtaking photos of the beauty of winter.

I have to remember to do that myself. I feed birds so I gotta get my camera ready.
