Barred Owl

“A wise old owl sat on an oak; The more he saw the less he spoke; The less he spoke the more he heard; Why aren't we like that wise old bird?”

-Author Unknown

This is a Barred-Owl that I was able to meet in person at the Kirtland Warbler Festival recently. As he was injured and cannot be released back into the wild, he is used for education by a wildlife rehabilitation organization.

Everyone have a safe Memorial weekend! Remember those who sacrificed who us and continue to do so!

What a pretty picture Shelley. Thank you for all the wonderful photography you share; I would miss so many details of these birds, if not for you. Have a safe and happy holiday.

I read your other blog. Don't feel bad. We know you are a good birder. Some people are so silly and have to be tattle-tales. Now where did that get them?

Sad that he was hurt & can't return to nature, but he'll be living the lap of luxury now!

I love that quote...so true. We need to shut up and listen a bit more.

I'm sure it is probably the picture, but that owl looks like he has blue eyes. How special is that!!!

Have a wonderful time at the Log Cabin!!!

What a handsome face...its a shame he can't be released back into the wild, but at least some good will come out of it if it helps to educate people about wildlife.
