Tulip Time

If you've never been thrilled to the very edges of your soul by a flower in spring bloom, maybe your soul has never been in bloom.

~Audra Foveo

It's that time of year again for the Tulip Time Festival in Holland, Michigan. This festival was named "Best Smalltown Festival" by Readers Digest. Events include fireworks, a parade, many musical groups, arts and craft fair and of course tulips! It runs May 2 - May 9. Click here for a brochure of events.

Hi Shelley, I have heard so much about Holland MI's tulips from Nalley and his family. Tulips remind me of my grandmother and are so bright and colorful. Will you be attending the festivities?

At least all the cloudy-rainy skies let all the flowers bloom. :)

Is this a tulip you posted? Even though I am Dutch, I don't know all the hybrids, there are so many:)
Other subject: I found the tiny house blog on your list, so I visted it - wow, it would be a major adjustment for me! Thanks for mentioning it in your comment:)

This sounds like something to do this weekend. I was trying to figure out what we could do this weekend and I have always wanted to go to the festival but never have. I'll have to look at the weather conditions for this weekend and see about going.

Large displays of tulips in the spring always buoy us all up after a long and difficult winter. The brilliant colors fill our souls!

How perfect, a tulip festival in HOLLAND, this sounds like a fun way to celebrate what spring does for us...and the blooms alone are enough to cheer up the darkest days!

You have me wishing mine were in bloom...but they are not yet. They are growing tall though!
I am posting some pictures of some from the MSU Botanical gardens tomorrow and the next day, so pop on over to my blog then to see them.
I love them!

Flowers have more meaning and appeal the older I get. I think my wife taught me that.

I never noticed until this year (probably because I am just learning wildflowers) that the center of tulips look like the center of trillums.

This is a lovely tulip. I did up a few white tulip arrangements for my house. The tulip festival sounds amazing. I am attending one in Iowa next weekend.
I also love tulips!
Happy May!
