Cattails - Nature's Gift

“It is good to realize that if love and peace can prevail on earth, and if we can teach our children to honour nature's gifts, the joys and beauties of the outdoors will be here forever.”

So pretty, Shelly. Did your loons make it back yet? It has really warmed up the past couple of days here, just a beautiful day today.

Great photo of the cattail. I've always been fascinated by them. I'd love to photograph them, but I never take the time to seek them out. Maybe I'll find the time this weekend.

I don't see these often either. Very pretty and I like the quote from Pres. Carter.

My dear friend Kathy's childhood nickname within her family was and still is, Kat-tail. She loves cattails. They are common here. Threatening them is Purple Loostrife which is an invasive plant and it will choke out cattails if not pulled before it goes to seed.

Isn't it cool they way they just bust at the seams! I love them too. I remember being a kid thinking it was so exciting to pull one apart. Now I enjoy watching them come undone on their own.

That Jimmy Carter, he's a smart cookie!

Deborah - thank you! I love to add one to a bouquet of wildflowers~

Pam - the loons did make it back! I was so excited! And what a great week it was up there - sunny and in the 60's. I bet you enjoyed your week too! :-)

Melissa - Thank you! I'm starting to notice them more!

Mildred - thank you! I think Pres. Carter was more intelligent than people gave him credit for.

Cedar - I love your friend's nickname!

New England - me too!

Benny & Patsy - I thought the same thing - where was the rest of the cattails friends? :-)
