Missing the Loons already

One of the things I will miss most this winter is the presence of the Loons. Soon they will be migrating and I will no longer hear their haunting call across the lake.

Loons are a favorite subject of mine on my birding blog and it has poured over occasionally to my log cabin blog.

This photo depicts a Loon "social gathering." To learn more about this ritual, please click here.

Love the loons..they run into some trouble on the lakes when they migrate this way with toxic fish due to the zebra mussels.. Very sad..

Hopefully they will come back again next summer. I know they brought you a lot of pleasure this year.

Shellmo: How I wish I had the call of the Loon on the lake I fish. I think they are a great looking bird.

Aw, I'm sorry you'll miss them. I like this shot. At first glance it reminded me of the Loch Ness. :-)
