Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
and never stops at all.

I have only seen this bird one time. What a thrill.

Do you think it's a young bird?
It's been a while since I've seen a red breasted grosbeak, but it's always a pleasure : )

She is adorable. I love this poem. Take care, SUZ
Hi Shelley, I love the Grosbeaks... SUCH gorgeous birds. I hope they migrate through our area again next Spring.

She's a beauty. I wonder if they are grouping up already to go south?? I only see them in the spring and fall here when they pass through...
I love this kind of bird. They passed through our yard last year. Stayed for about 2 weeks. This year, they only stayed for one day. Thanks for sharing your photo!
We were thrilled to see our resident Grosbeak couple bring their four (!!) youngsters to the feeders last week. I just love em!
Youngster is on his way to getting his drop-dead gorgeousness - aren't they great?!
Great shot of such a well-named bird: a pretty rosy breast and a beak that's very gros!
Beautiful little bird. Have a wonderful week.
Grosbeaks are really the "showgirls" of our bird feeders. We get 2 varieties and they are so colorful , adding an exotic appearance to our place. We seem to get them all year round now, probably because i keep our feeders full of black-oil sunflower seeds. I have never been able to capture them photographically , great pics Shelley!
That is absolutely beautiful Shelley.
I think that is my favorite verse..I read that last year and fell in love with that thought...love your grosbeak and the color of your feeder really makes him pop!!!
He is so beautiful!
I have them stop by in April. They only stay a few weeks before heading North. Nice photograph.
