A companion in Nature...

To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring - it was peace.
~Milan Kundera

My goal in life is to be as good of a person my dog already thinks I am.

It took me a couple years, but I convinced the hubby to get a Bernese Mountain Dog. Our puppy comes home in 4 weeks and I am excited beyond belief! I am looking forward to bringing this beautiful girl with us on a canoe, on our walks and for swims in the lake. She will make a wonderful addition!

Hi! I popped over from Carol's blog, Charli's Place, to visit.

What a precious dog! I have been looking for a dog, too. Both of our little Min Pins are now gone as of last fall, and we are starting to tentatively look.

Your new fur baby is adorable, and he looks like a real love. Here's wishing you the best with him...

XO,

Sheila :-)

P.S. I might have just said Charli's Place when I meant Charli and Me! My brain is still not awake yet. ;-)

Hi Magpie - thank you for coming over! Sorry to hear about your min pins being gone - let me know if you get another fur baby! I'll be over to visit your blog today! :)

Darla - I feel like I'm 5 yrs old!

Benny & Patsy - thank you!

Mildred - She will definitely enrich our lives! :-)

Busy Bee - she will be between 70-90 pounds! I might need to get her a yatch - lol!

Nature Lovin - in retrospect - I should've just combined my birding and northern michigan blog so I'd only have that and the log blog - I'm crazy! The arts & craft bazaar is in downtown gaylord in the parking lot at first and court street (behind the pavillion). It's from 8-4 - that would be cool if you could stop by!!!! :-)

Nina - they do - females get between 70-90 pounds, males 85-120 pounds! I'll have my own horse - lol! Thanks for coming by!!

Oh boy do I know what you're feeling. The minute my husband said yes to a dog within 2 days we got one, a Chocolate Lab. I have wanted one for years. We drove over 600 miles round trip to get our Sadie. She has been the best companion for us and I know you will enjoy your puppy.

I'm sure you've bought about all the stuffed animals you could find..and that wonderful bed, and all those chewy bones and throw toys and those 18 x 24 inch pics of the loons so you can teach him what not to chase...yep sounds like you are ready!!
..a very exciting time, indeed!

I recently found your blog and enjoy it. I am native Michiganer (Detroit), but spent many summers at summer camp on north shore of Higgins Lake, and have canoed almost all of the wonderful rivers in N MI - south branch Au Sable probably my favorite. In late 70s we did much camping vacations in NM - esp Cross Village, tip of Leelanau, and Pictured Rocks. Closest I've found to the clear water lakes is Lake Champlain. I still have a special place in me for those northern lands and hope travel there again soon.

Hi, just found your blog, will explore more and look at your log cabin one, sounds fun. Had to stop and comment on this though, had tears in my eyes watching those photos of your new puppy! It took me years to persuade my hubby to get a puppy, he's now almost a year old (puppy not hubby - obviously)and makes my heart contract with love just to look at him. He's much smaller than yours is going to be though, a Westie X Lhasa. I'm so excited for you and I don't even know you! Will check back to see how it goes.
