I loved how the trees looked after our first snowfall - almost like powdered sugar had dusted them. We are headed back up to our log cabin this weekend and snow is in the forecast!

Wow, a good dusting of snow! Up here in the far Eastern UP we, surprisingly, don't get the Lake effect here unless it roars up from Lake Huron. So places like St. Ignace and Sault Ste. Marie can get clobbered and we get a few flurries at most. By the end of winter we've pretty much caught up, but we have this little reprieve early on. All this to say we haven't had even a dusting here yet!
We used to have a cottage near Bear Lake--a real snow belt--and we would come up from downstate to Grayling and see nothing but by the time we got to our cottage we would have to climb huge banks in order to get in. I guess altitude and lake effect decide it all!

Wow,... you are totally white there. We have had several hard frosts here in the eastern Adirondacks of NY, but only the higher elevations have had actual snowfall.

I love how the snow and ice glistens on the trees too. It's so beautiful. Doesn't it seem quieter in the woods when it snows. We have a little park near our home that I love to walk in.
These photos are great! They remind me of Christmas. I'll have to post some of my winter photos soon. Isn't snow wonderful?
