Hi Tina - in Gaylord, they maintain an elk herd at a designated park and they have some deer and ram mixed in so this cutie is well taken care of and mom is right w/ him.
Mona - he definitely will be well fed!
Leedra - it is late...
B&P - I do think they have sweet faces.
Deborah - this one definitely had the small ears and tail!
Let's hope this little one makes it through the winter,... and hunting season! Deer are plentiful this year here in the Adirondacks. Always a thrill to see!
Hi, Shellmo. I was checking different blogs today & found yours. I live about 17 miles from Gaylord towards Alba. My husband was born & raised in Gaylord & works @ the post office there. I was born & raised in Newberry in the UP. We have a cabin near Whitefish Point that we get to as often as we can. In the winter we have to snowshoe or ski in because of the snow. My husband has fished most of the lakes around here & hunted alot of the area. We also love to watch the birds & keep several feeders out year round. We get alot of pileated woodpeckers here as well and wild turkeys. We see an occasional deer but not often. We see alot of tracks, though. We live in the woods on 10 acres & it's very peaceful & serene. I'm retired and craft alot. It was wonderful to visit your different blogs & I'm adding you to my bloglist. Stop by my blog for a visit if you get a chance. Someday I would love to live in a small log cabin.
Cedar - this little one is in a protected park - which I am glad! :-0
Denise - I did think it was unusual.
Deb - glad to have another emerson admirer visit!
Charli - me too!
Mike - I think snow should be headed your way soon!
Robert - I wholeheartedly agree!
Rencalgo - not quite - had the company of a lot of elk & other deer too!
Dawnie - those birdies will be so appreciative!
Basketnprims - so glad you stopped by! I went to Newberry this 1st time this past Summer. I just love the U.P! I wish we had some of your turkeys. I did visit your wonderful blog and will be back!
I love "Up North" and have appointed myself the unofficial travel ambassador for Northern Michigan. There are so many great things to do - visit the State Parks, ski, snowmobile, view elk, see the moose of Isle Royale, hike, kayak, visit a winery, bird watch and so much more. Please join me in my travels. -Shelley

Was he/she alone? What a cutie and he looks like he doesn't have a care in the world...:)
What a cutie. Hope he makes it through the winter.
She still has her spots. I thought they were gone by this time of year.
How sweet.

Those ears look so tiny - maybe I'm just too used to the mule deer I had so many of when I lived in Alberta. A real cute nontheless.
How true is that statement! Darling photo.
Oh---love that picture with the snow and the deer (two of my favorite things)!!!

Great photo. Those spots this late in the year...scary.
How beautiful! One of my favourite Emerson quotes too :-)
She is so sweet. I hope she stays safe.
Wow, nice picture of the deer. Those trees look like mine here. It is getting much colder here but no snow yet still.
Patience will get you places while standing still ... or something like that. For all of us, to some degree, it is our greatest lesson.
alone in the midst of wilderness>>>
another great photo.
You got me to the Pet Store today! I bought new seed and peanuts and now all Gods creatures have food!
